OVERVIEW

The Xperia Play is a smartphone with elements of a handheld game console produced by Sony Ericsson.

Sony Computer Entertainment and Google had a plan to establish the game SDK that supports the traditional/existing PlayStation 1 game titles and the new mobile game format called "PlayStation Mobile"

It was supposed to be a tier 1 Gingerbread product as an official Nexus product from Google.

PROBLEM

With the marketshare for dedicated handheld game consoles diminishing into the 2010s due to the rapid expansion of mobile phones with cheap downloadable games, Sony attempted to tackle the issue

with two separate devices; a dedicated video game console with elements of a smartphone, called the PlayStation Vita, and a smartphone with elements of a handheld console, the Xperia Play

ROLE AS AN ART DIRECTOR AND UI/UX DESIGNER

•   Representing a creative director for Sony Computer Entertainment as a contact person to Google Android team in Mountain View

COMPETITORS

CHALLENGES

The market place for PlayStation games is placed inside of the Google play in the separated section, but the installed those PlayStation games don't appear in the normal home menu, therefore, we needed a

new app to browse the PlayStation games to play.
